'Light on Colour' Alice Adams and 'Miscellaneous' Elaine Giles

'Light on Colour' Alice Adams and ‘Miscellaneous’ Elaine Giles

Wednesday 20th July to Saturday 23rd July 2022
Open Wednesday - Saturday  10am - 3pm.
The Setting gallery and The Plot café, Three Storeys, Old Bristol Rd, Nailsworth, GL6 0JE.

A combined display of portraits and travel sketches with explorations of ideas alongside local and European landscapes in oil.

In this, her latest exhibition ‘Light On Colour’, Alice Adams will exhibit over 30 framed oil paintings of local and European scenes in The Setting Gallery.

Suffused with colour, her work has a strong sense of composition. Alice paints in oils, watercolours and also draws with charcoal. She has exhibited widely and was about to have an exhibition in the spring of 2020, which was sadly cancelled due to the pandemic.

Elaine uses water based pigment on paper. In ‘Miscellaneous’, she is exhibiting a sample of portraits and travel sketches in the Cafe.

Her portraits have been included in The Mall Gallery exhibition, Figurative Art Now, and the book Portraits for NHS Heroes, sold to raise money for NHS Charities Together, and published by Bloomsbury.

This linked exhibition complements Alice’s exhibition in our gallery space, The Setting, which is in the next door room.

Alice Adams and Elaine Giles met as neighbours in Pinfarthings, and share the privilege of having worked in the NHS, as a Health Visitor and Speech and Language Therapist respectively, though neither have been to art college, both have exhibited and sold work nationally.
