There is only a brief moment in time when a building, undergoing works, is truly raw.
The process of deconstructing, though messy and chaotic, reveals hidden stories, shadows and imprints. Beams and floorboards encounter each other anew to engage in fresh dialogues.
leave/stay/arrive is an exhibition that provokes discussions on the value of changing spaces, probing what constitutes historical merit. It invites the public to shift their focus from the newly refurbished building and remember its historical layers.
Through movement, sound recordings, photography and video work, Sheppard Fidler + Stapleford respond to the environment in its state of flux, focusing in on the bare bones and overlooked details.
The works presented record the emptiness of the past which is in fact full.
The exhibition is free and there is no need to book. However, tickets for the free open panel discussion with Mike Harvey (Nailsworth Archives), Nicki Schmiegelow (Three Storeys owner) & Oliver Clissold (Nailsworth Brewery Family), on Sat, 19th September at 3pm, can be booked here. Tickets for the free Artists Talks on either Saturday 11th September or Sunday 26th September can be booked here.
