Storey Book Meeting Room (lower ground floor), Three Storeys, Old Bristol Rd, Nailsworth, GL6 0JE

Artists across the years have found inspiration at the coast, whether looking at the light and space of the coastal landscapes or the social gatherings in seaside resorts. They have been inspired by the brilliant colour and vegetation of the Mediterranean, the mists and swelling seas of the British coast as well as the organic forms of the landscape. The course looks at a range of European artists from different eras for whom the sea and the coastline played an important part in their creativity.
Artists likely to be included:
William Dyce
William Powell Frith
Turner and Constable
Newlyn School
Laura Knight
Matisse and Picasso
Eric Ravilious
Ben Nicholson
Barbara Hepworth
Paul Nash
Eileen Agar
The group size will be small allowing plenty of time for questions and discussion. Details of each week's theme will be published in the New Year on the website: fionajamesart.com
