Alison’s paintings are all about catching a moment in time while out drawing, painting or just looking. Spotting the spring orchids on the way up to the common, light glimpsed through the trees, highlighting the bluebells or that sudden moment of a wave splashing up from a rock.
This exhibition shows her interest in light and colour, energetic mark making with a wide range of materials and love of our Cotswold countryside, the coast and all things natural.
Artist statement: “ it is about capturing a fleeting moment of light, colour or movement. I spend a lot of time sketching, just looking and then making marks in response in whatever media. I like to experiment, keep the work fresh, see how it helps a piece evolve and take on a character of its own.
Some work is more studio based, perhaps more controlled, some is produced on the spot, freer more responsive, all is deeply felt.”
Alison will be in residence daily from 11am to 1pm
