'Create Together', a Dementia friendly arts festival
28th April - 30th April, Three Storeys, Old Bristol Rd, Nailsworth, GL6 0JE
A three day festival presented by the Nailsworth Dementia Action Alliance, designed to appeal to people with Dementia, their carers and families, and the whole community.
The programme of events will be as follows;
Thursday 28th April
10am - 12pm - Fiona Owens Art workshop in The Setting gallery space
1pm - 2pm - Seated yoga and mindfulness with Sally Deacon
2.30pm - 4.30pm - Create Together monoprint workshop with Jilly Cobbe
Friday 29th April
10am - 12pm - 'Poems to Remember'
12.30pm- 1.30pm - Katerina Pippi - Dementia Friends Presentation
2pm -3pm - 'Mindsong - Sing to Remember -Remember to Sing.’ A community singing group for people living with Dementia. Come along and sing some of your old favourites. Enjoy the benefits of singing in a fun and friendly group.All welcome.
3.30pm - 5pm - Create Together art workshop with Susie Walker
5.30pm - 6.45pm - Film showing of ’Those that we love’
7.00pm - 9.45pm - Film showing of ‘Iris’, about Iris Murdoch's life and relationships, and her journey through Alzheimer's disease. The film was directed by Sir Richard Eyre, who lives locally and who is a Patron of Arts4Dementia, a charity that promotes Arts Events for people with early Dementia. Sir Richard will present the film.
Saturday 30th April
9.30am - Sensory walk and talk; Mike Kelly, Mayor of Nailsworth, will lead a Sensory walk along the beautiful Ruskin Mill Valley, exploring the senses of smell, hearing and touch, and with a focus on the appreciation of nature. This will be the first Dementia Friendly walk of the season. Pre-booked attendees will meet for coffee at Three Storeys followed by the walk.
10.30am-12 - Patsy Freeman Creative writing workshop
12.30pm-1.30 pm at Christ Church, Nailsworth - A classical concert featuring the renowned tenor James Gilchrist, accompanied by pianist Anna Tilbrook. Proceeds from this concert will be donated to Mindsong, a Gloucestershire charity reaching people with Dementia through people and song.
2pm - 2.30pm - Five Valleys choir
3pm - 4pm - Creative engagement for carers
6.30pm (doors open) for 7pm start – Honeymoon Swing performance, with an opportunity for dancing and refreshments.
