Open Tuesday - Friday  9am - 3pm, Saturday  10 - 3pm
The Setting gallery, Three Storeys, Old Bristol Rd, Nailsworth, GL6 0JE

'Shrink/Wrap' is a textile retrospective exhibition by feltmaker Sarah Brooker, spanning years from her MA at Goldsmiths College through to current work as a fine art feltmaker.

Exploring the capacity for this flexible textile medium to 'draw' with fibres, Sarah is showing framed and unframed works, and more recent 'wrapped' felts. These vary in scale from small to large wallhangings, which she creates to commission from her studio at Three Storeys, Nailsworth, and at Minchinhampton.

Sarah studied Fine Art at Portsmouth Poly (a colleague and friend of Grayson Perry for many years ) followed by a Textile Art post grad at Goldsmiths, London, and has several touring shows with Alice Kettle, among others.

She was resident feltmaker at New Brewery Arts , Cirencester for 13 years and 5 years at Hallidays Mill , Chalford. Recently relocating back to Stroud valleys from Ledbury , much of these current works are inspired by the seasons and lands here.

With many working drawings , she is hoping her recent book of crayon studies will coincide with this exhibition.

As well as this exhibition in The Setting gallery, Sarah is also showing a small selection of paintings and drawings made during lockdown, in the adjacent room; our café, The Plot. Read more about this linked exhibition, ‘Still/Life’  with collage artist Jacqui Mair.
