August Exhibition of work by local artists and craftspeople

A joint exhibition and sale of beautiful handmade objects, including ceramics, glasswork, watercolours, linocut, wood turning and traditional brush making.

Rosa Harradine

Rosa Harradine makes brushes and brooms using natural materials: arenga, tampico and broomcorn, and aims to make pieces that are beautiful as well as useful.

Rosa was chosen as a TOAST New Maker 2022 by the fashion and homewares brand who selected five makers demonstrating excellence in skill, originality and craftsmanship.

Nancy Taylor

Contemporary ceramic homeware and jewellery from Nancy Taylor. Functional yet sculptural, her work is an investigation into the material relationship between the natural and built worlds, with shapes inspired by utilitarianism, mid-century design and industrial architecture.

Vicky Hall

For Vicky Hall, mystical seaweed holds dear memories of rock pooling as a child and finding hidden underwater worlds. After retiring from working for the NHS, Vicky now has more time to pursue her love of art and ceramics, much of which she will be exhibiting in the Setting, along with her delicate pressed seaweed.

Elizabeth McCorquodale

The stylised flora and fauna that decorate much of Lizzie’s work are drawn from everyday encounters with plants and animals in her garden and the surrounding countryside.

‘After a period working with these freeform natural themes, I lean towards working with the rigid rules of geometric designs and return to my ‘Quilt’ series of large brightly coloured and heavily abstract plates and wall pieces. And so it goes.’

Sian Thomas

A watercolourist living and working in Worcestershire, Sian is fascinated by the everyday objects that we would normally take for granted, reproducing them in beautiful detail. Sian also takes inspiration from the natural landscape, using a looser, more relaxed style.

Frances Gibbs

Frances came to pottery later in life after experiencing the excitement a friend always had at the prospect of her weekly ceramics lesson. She makes simple, colourful, usable pieces that feel good to hold and bring pleasure to new owners.

Frances has always had a technical eye, previously working as a diagrammatic artist for a large publishing company based in London, but took to the Cotswolds in the 1990’s to raise her now adult triplets. Calm in the household has now resumed with the discovery of clay, glazes and a kiln.

Letters and Lino

Katy Upton is a local printmaker and calligrapher. Working from her Cotswold garden studio, she creates vibrant linocut and hand printed cards and prints from her original designs. Many of which can be produced with personalised hand-lettered calligraphy.

Joanna Dawson Ceramics

Joanna has a passion for rich, bold, jewel like colour.  From the voluptuous to more delicate forms she creates individual ‘studio pottery’ pieces.

She has recently returned to ‘making’ after a hiatus of two decades. With a first degree in Critical Fine Art Practice from Central St Martins she then moved towards a science masters and had an eclectic career in marketing to include Fine Art Auctions with Christies. Over the last couple of years Joanna has found her comfort and joy in the medium of clay.
